The Punjab government has withdrawn the decision to remove Manisha Gulati, chairperson of the Women’s Commission in Punjab. The Punjab government has also informed the High Court (Punjab & Haryana High Court) about this. After being removed from the post of Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Manisha Gulati challenged the order of the Punjab Government in the High Court. On Manisha Gulati’s petition, the Punjab-Haryana High Court issued a notice to the Punjab government and ordered it to file a reply.
Extension was given till 18 March 2024
The petition was filed by senior advocate Chetan Mittal on behalf of Manisha Gulati, chairperson of the Women’s Commission. It was also told in this petition that during the tenure of Captain Amarinder Singh’s government, Manisha Gulati was appointed as the chairperson of the Punjab Women’s Commission in March 2018 and she was later given an extension till March 18, 2024. On January 31, his extension order was canceled by the Punjab government.

Manisha Gulati, chairperson of the Punjab Women’s Commission, is often in discussions for taking decisions in favor of women, but she came into the limelight after former CM Charanjit Singh Channi raised the MeToo issue. Apart from women, Manisha Gulati also raised the voice of husbands of women who had fled abroad. Gulati is considered close to former CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Manisha Gulati was earlier in the Congress, after that she joined the BJP on February 20, 2022, saying goodbye to the Congress. After leaving Congress, he targeted CM Charanjit Singh Channi and said that his dignity was hurt in Congress. He was targeted because of being a Hindu, personal enmity was taken out.
