The Punjab government has started issuing fee receipts on mobile phones of applicants for state government services.
An environment-friendly initiative launched by the Department of Governance Reforms (DGR) on Friday is estimated to save around Rs 1.3 crore annually on paper.
Aman Arora, Minister for Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of Punjab, said that the abolition of the paper receipt system will significantly reduce carbon emissions at ‘Seva Kendras’ and will also contribute to the future.
He said that the applicants would no longer have to worry about losing the paper receipt as they could now easily receive their payment receipt through SMS.
He also urged the citizens to be a part of this environment-friendly initiative of the government by not asking for paper receipts.
