Punjab: Major development projects to be initiated urban areas under smart city mission

Bhagwant Singh Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, sanctioned the start of significant projects in the major cities and towns on Friday as part of the Smart City Mission (SCM), which aims to promote inclusive development while accelerating the state’s growth engine.

The Chief Minister emphasised this action as the urgent need of the hour to equip state residents with world-class basic infrastructure during a meeting with Local Government Officials.

According to him, the goal of SCM is to support communities that offer basic infrastructure, offer inhabitants a respectable standard of living, and maintain a clean and sustainable environment through the use of “Smart” solutions.

The Chief Minister reviewed the status of the various projects and stated that careful execution is crucial to meet the demands of a changing world. According to him, the goal of the state government is to provide every citizen with access to necessities like sewage, water, and sanitation.

CM urged to complete project within allotted time

The Chief Minister urged that these projects be completed in every way within the allotted time and that any lapse in this regard would not be accepted under any circumstances. He promised that these projects would be strictly monitored and that he would routinely check on their progress. Bhagwant Singh Mann further emphasised the importance of using the money allocated for these initiatives wisely.

Because of the significant investment in these projects, the Chief Minister further requested that the officials undertake inspections of the projects by the relevant agencies to guarantee compliance with high quality and safety standards.

Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasised that the department would monitor the progress of the projects on a regular basis and, if necessary, take remedial action to ensure that standards and quality criteria were being met. On this occasion, the local government minister Balkar Singh, the local government secretary Ajoy Sharma, and the chief minister’s special principal secretary Ravi Bhagat were also present.
