According to Senior Superintendent of Police Ravjot Kaur Grewal, Gurpreet Singh of the Ramdas Nagar neighbourhood, his wife Khushdeep Kaur, and four other people have been detained for the murder of Sukhjeet Singh.
According to leaders, the situation was discovered after Sukhjeet’s wife Jeevandeep Kaur reported him missing.
Gurpreet had experienced losses in his business and, according to the police, conspired with his wife and four other people, Sukhwinder Singh Sangha, Jaspal Singh, Dinesh Kumar, and Rajesh Kumar, to pretend to be dead in order to collect a 4 crore rupee insurance payout.
Here’s how he faked his death
In order to murder Sukhjeet, a local of the Sainpur neighbourhood, Gurpreet befriended him. They claimed that after the victim vanished on June 19 his wife reported him missing to the police.
According to them, when Sukhjeet’s motorbike and slippers were discovered next to a canal on Patiala Road, authorities initially believed he had committed himself.
Gurpreet had been purchasing Sukhjeet’s wife alcohol for the previous four days, according to Gurpreet’s wife’s police report. Gurpreet’s relatives informed the police that he had passed away in a car accident when they enquired about this, according to the police.
Plan to claim 4 Crore
Because of this, Gurpreet’s family was once more questioned. Then, they claimed, it was discovered that Gurpreet was still alive and had concocted a scheme with his wife and others to fake his death in order to collect insurance proceeds totaling Rs 4 crore.
It was discovered during the investigation that Gurpreet’s family had reported him dead in a traffic accident to the Rajpura police station on June 20.
Gurpreet messed with Sukhjeet’s drink on June 19, rendering him comatose. The police claimed that after changing his clothes, Gurpreet crushed him under a truck so that he could not be recognised.
They said that Gurpreet’s wife recognised Sukhjeet’s dismembered body as her husband’s.
