Punjab News: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP-led central government of misusing the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) to target the party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal. The AAP claims that Kejriwal could soon be arrested in what they term a “fake case” related to Delhi’s excise policy.
Alleged Intimidation Tactics by BJP
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has asserted that AAP leaders in Delhi are receiving threatening phone calls from the BJP. The alleged message is that unless AAP leaves the Indian Democratic Alliance (INDIA), Kejriwal will face arrest. According to Cheema, Kejriwal has received seven summons from the ED, and the BJP intends to arrest him to pressure AAP out of the INDIA alliance.
Political Landscape and BJP’s Concerns
Cheema highlighted the upcoming 2024 general elections and suggested that the BJP senses defeat at the hands of the INDIA bloc. He criticized the Modi-led BJP government for what he called ten years of failure, citing issues such as corruption, inflation, and unemployment. Cheema also accused the BJP of not fulfilling promises made before the elections, leading to farmer protests.
AAP’s Assertion of BJP’s Fear
Minister Anmol Gagan Mann asserted that the recent defeat of the BJP in the Chandigarh mayoral election, where the INDIA alliance triumphed, was just a preview. She claimed that wherever AAP, led by Kejriwal, aligns with the INDIA alliance, the BJP faces inevitable defeat. The AAP accuses the BJP of resorting to intimidation and legal actions as a response to its growing influence in various regions.
