Punjab News: In a significant crackdown on trans-border narcotic smuggling networks, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested three individuals and seized 4.5 kg of heroin and ₹4.32 lakh in drug money from their possession.

Accused Linked to Pakistan-Based Smugglers

The arrested individuals have been identified as Akashdeep Singh (Akash), Satwinderpal Singh (Satti), and Gurmej Singh, a jail warden posted at Central Jail, Amritsar. Investigations have revealed that Gurmej Singh was supplying heroin to prisoners within the jail, while Akashdeep and Satwinderpal were directly in contact with Pakistan-based drug smugglers who used drones to transport the drugs across the border.

Investigation and FIR Underway

Police officials developed technical leads to apprehend the suspects. An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further connections and dismantle the drug network.
