Punjab News– The Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has announced the invitation of applications from farmers for the Farm Mechanisation Scheme under the Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM). A subsidy worth ₹21 crore will be provided to beneficiary farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Application Details
Farmers can apply online by August 13, 2024, through the department’s portal, agrimachinerypb.com. Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian urged farmers to take full advantage of the scheme aimed at enhancing farm mechanisation in the state, as desired by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Eligible Machinery and Subsidy Details
The subsidy will be available on the purchase of various agricultural machines, including:
- Pneumatic Planter
- Potato Planter (Automatic/Semi-Automatic)
- Potato Digger
- Paddy Transplanter
- DSR Seed Drill
- Rotavator
- Tractor Operated Boom Sprayer
- PTO Operated Bund Former
- Oil Mill
- Mini Processing Plant
- Nursery Seeder
- Forage Harvester
Individual farmers, farmer groups, cooperative societies, panchayats, and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) can avail of a 40% subsidy on these machines. Individual SC farmers, women farmers, and small & marginal farmers will be eligible for a 50% subsidy.
- Promotion of Agricultural Mechanisation
Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian emphasized that adopting mechanisation could significantly increase farmers’ incomes and promote water-saving techniques, crop diversification, and the growth of MSMEs in the agricultural sector. He assured that the process would be completely transparent and encouraged farmers to visit their respective district agriculture offices for more information.

The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to promoting agriculture diversification and mechanisation. The Agriculture Department is actively working on strategies to provide state-of-the-art machinery to farmers at subsidised rates, aiming to boost their incomes and overall agricultural productivity.
