Taking a firm stand in support of the Punjab government’s new Land Pooling Policy, AAP leader Ranjit Pal Singh tweeted on Saturday, calling the initiative a “historic and revolutionary step for Punjab’s farmers.” His tweet was seen as a strong response to the opposition’s criticism of the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s development strategy.

Farmers to Benefit, Mafia to Lose: Ranjit Pal Singh

In his statement, Ranjit Pal Singh outlined the major benefits of the policy, stating that for the first time ever, farmers will retain full ownership of their land, while also receiving direct financial gains worth lakhs or even crores, depending on the location and development value of their land.

He highlighted three key advantages:

Full rights over land retained by farmers

Direct monetary benefits from urban development

Complete freedom from the grip of land mafias

Questioning the Opposition’s Intent

Ranjit Pal Singh also raised a pointed question for the critics:

“Who exactly is opposing this policy and why?”

He questioned whether the opposition truly stands with the farmers or is merely safeguarding the interests of the land mafias who have long controlled Punjab’s land division system.

“Those who looted land for decades are now threatened by an ‘Aam Aadmi’ government that puts people first,” he added.

Government’s Stand: Empowering the Farmer, Ending Exploitation

Introduced by the Bhagwant Mann government, the Land Pooling Policy is aimed at transforming urban development in Punjab while ensuring that farmers are not displaced or exploited. Instead of selling their land at undervalued rates, farmers will now receive a share in the developed project, retaining long-term value and control.

As the policy rolls out, experts say it has the potential to not only curb corruption and middlemen but also accelerate infrastructure development across the state.
