Punjab News: In a significant development aimed at transforming agriculture in Punjab, the government has initiated comprehensive efforts to ensure canal water reaches every dry field and tail in the region.
Under this initiative, extensive groundwork has been undertaken to facilitate the flow of canal water to previously parched lands.
Key highlights of the initiative include:
- Investment: A substantial amount of 2100 crore rupees has been allocated for the development of canal infrastructure.
- Canal Cleaning: Approximately 13000 kilometers of canals have been meticulously cleaned to enhance water flow, ensuring irrigation reaches even the remotest tails.
- Land Reformation: Implementation of ‘barabandi’ and ‘chakbandi’ measures has brought immense joy and relief to farmers, marking a significant milestone in land consolidation efforts.
This monumental achievement underscores the commitment of the government to prioritize agricultural welfare. The success of these endeavors can be attributed to the leadership of Punjab’s Chief Minister, who hails from a farming background, further emphasizing the administration’s dedication to addressing the needs of the agricultural community.
