Punjab News: Chief Minister Holds Successful Meeting with Farm Leaders on Sugarcane Prices

Punjab News: After a productive 90-minute meeting with farm leaders, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the success of the discussions. While not disclosing the final State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane, Mann mentioned that a follow-up meeting with sugar mill owners is scheduled for Saturday. The hike in SAP is crucial for the farmers, especially since a significant portion of cane is processed by six private sugar mills in the state. Initially offering to raise the SAP from Rs 380 per quintal to Rs 388 per quintal, the government is navigating negotiations with stakeholders.

Chief Minister Urges PM Modi to Address Stubble-Burning Issue Collaboratively

Addressing the issue of stubble-burning and the blame often placed on Punjab, Bhagwant Mann called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a proactive approach. Mann suggested that PM Modi should convene a meeting with representatives from all North Indian states to collectively find a solution to stubble-burning. Highlighting that this agricultural practice is prevalent in other states like Madhya Pradesh, Mann emphasized the need for a collaborative effort to address the issue.
