Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann attended the Van Mahotsav event in Hoshiarpur today, where he addressed both environmental concerns and political issues. Without directly naming him, Mann took aim at Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal in the context of the sacrilege case.
Political Accountability
Mann stated that some individuals are seeking forgiveness for their mistakes, emphasizing that forgiveness is for mistakes, not for crimes. “A crime committed deliberately will not be forgiven. We have ongoing cases with new evidence emerging. There will be major revelations soon, and those responsible will be punished,” he asserted.
He also remarked, “We have three courts here—God’s court, the court of the people, and the judiciary. God and the people have already delivered their verdict. Soon, the court will also hand down its punishment. Even if expensive lawyers buy some time, justice will ultimately prevail.”
Respect for All Religions
CM Mann emphasized the importance of respecting all religions, stating, “If you find happiness from a neem tree, I have no right to say my eucalyptus tree is better. Being in power or being a leader are trivial matters compared to the satisfaction of serving others.”
Promoting Environmental Awareness
During his visit, Mann toured the exhibition at the event, encouraging participants who showcased their products. He was accompanied by Minister Brahma Shankar Jimpa, MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, and district administration officials.
The Chief Minister also appealed to farmers who receive free electricity to plant at least four saplings around their motors. “Currently, this is advice, but if necessary, we will make it a law to ensure future generations can breathe clean air,” Mann said. He highlighted the severe environmental impact of deforestation, noting that even mountains are being swept away by floodwaters due to the lack of trees.
Conclusion
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s address at the Van Mahotsav event highlighted his administration’s commitment to both political accountability and environmental conservation. His remarks underscored the need for justice in ongoing cases and the importance of sustainable practices to protect Punjab’s natural resources for future generations.
