CM Bhagwant Mann Calls for Grassroots Efforts Amid Lok Sabha Feedback Session
Party sources revealed that AAP leaders from Ludhiana attributed their electoral loss to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) consolidating Hindu votes through the Ram Temple issue in Ayodhya, while the Congress secured victory by nominating its state president. AAP’s candidate, Ludhiana (central) MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, finished third, with BJP’s Ravneet Singh Bittu as the runner-up.
In Jalandhar, AAP candidate Pawan Kumar Tinu also secured the third position, with former Congress Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi emerging victorious over BJP’s Sushil Rinku by a margin of 175,993 votes. The impending assembly by-election in Jalandhar (West) follows the resignation of former AAP MLA Sheetal Angural, who defected to the BJP. In the previous assembly elections, AAP won three out of nine assembly segments in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency, including Jalandhar West.
Chief Minister Mann urged party leaders to bolster their grassroots initiatives and effectively tackle local issues to enhance AAP’s prospects in the forthcoming by-election.
