Punjab News— Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday strongly criticized Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP from Mandi, for her recent controversial remarks related to the farmers’ protests. He urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to rein in its MP, accusing her of making “baseless” statements that could incite unrest and hurt public sentiment.
Mann Calls Out Kangana’s Remarks as Divisive and Unfounded
Mann’s comments came in response to Ranaut’s allegations at a recent event, where she likened the farmers’ protests against the now-repealed farm laws to a situation reminiscent of Bangladesh, claiming that “dead bodies were hanging, and rapes were taking place” during the protests.

Addressing the issue, the Chief Minister said, “The BJP at the Centre should tame its controversial MPs like Kangana Ranaut who are vitiating the atmosphere of the country with their venomous statements.” He further emphasized that instead of focusing on the welfare of her constituents, Ranaut was repeatedly making statements that were not only baseless but also deeply offensive to the people of Punjab.
Mann reminded the BJP that Ranaut, now a public figure, had been elected by the people of Mandi to address the issues of her constituency rather than to “make such baseless statements that can lead to instability in society or cause hurt to someone.” He also suggested that if the BJP considers these remarks as personal opinions, the party should take action by removing her from their ranks.
In a broader context, the Punjab CM also touched upon the ongoing issues related to land acquisition for highways in the state. He acknowledged the concerns of inadequate compensation but dismissed claims of any law and order problems. Mann called on the Centre and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to treat Punjab’s fertile land with greater care and not as they would land in other states.
