Punjab News: CM Mann Revolutionises Education! More Than 10 Lakh Admissions in Govt Schools, 118 School of Eminence

Punjab News: In a surprising development, not a single student has opted for the fourth year of the undergraduate program at Lucknow University (LU)-affiliated colleges for the academic session 2024-25 under the National Education Policy (NEP). This comes despite the introduction of NEP in 2021, which offered students the flexibility of multiple entry and exit points and the option to pursue a four-year UG and one-year PG course.

Senior professors and college principals have attributed this lack of interest to several key issues, including poor job prospects, insufficient infrastructure, and the absence of desired postgraduate courses in many colleges. They also expressed concerns about the quality of education, further discouraging students from continuing into the fourth year of their UG program.

The NEP’s implementation at LU, now in its fourth year, was expected to offer students a more flexible and comprehensive education. However, the inability to attract students for the additional year of study raises questions about the program’s overall effectiveness and the readiness of the institutions to support such changes.

The situation highlights the need for better infrastructure and clearer pathways to employment for students who commit to the extended UG program under NEP.
