Punjab News: In consonance with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to strengthen the cooperative sector, Special Chief Secretary to CM Mr VK Singh on Saturday directed the officers to expedite the ongoing process of computerisation of Primary agricultural Cooperative Societies(PACS) and complete the process by December 31.
Chairing a meeting of State Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (SLIMC), the Special Chief Secretary underlined the importance of Primary Agriculture Society as back bone of the Cooperative Movement in Punjab. He said that the societies act as a catalyst in ensuring the well-being of the farmers at the grass root level . Mr VK Singh said that computerisation of these societies will bring about more efficiency and transparency in the functioning of societies thereby immensely benefitting the farmers.
The Special Chief Secretary reviewed the District wise status of ongoing computerisation and asked the officers to ensure the timely and effective implementation of project. The committee also deliberated on computerisation of office of Registrar Cooperative Societies, Punjab and Agriculture Cooperative Banks in Punjab. Mr VK Singh envisioned that the project will further streamline the functioning of PACS across Punjab.
Prominent amongst others present in the meeting included Secretary Cooperation cum Managing Director Punjab State Cooperative Bank Ms Anindita Mitra, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Mr Vimal Setia, representatives of NABARD, Department of Cooperation, Punjab State Cooperative Bank and others.
