Punjab News: Decisive WAR Continues Against Drug Peddlers in Punjab: 11 Nabbed in Nawanshahr Under CM Bhagwant Mann’s Administration

In a continued decisive crackdown on drug peddlers, the Punjab Police have arrested 11 individuals, including three women, within the past 48 hours in Nawanshahr. This action is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking under the strong administration of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is committed to making Punjab drug-free.

Significant Recoveries and Arrests

During the arrests, Punjab Police recovered 40 grams of heroin, along with various intoxicant tablets and injections. Cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered against the suspects.

Details of Recent Arrests

On the latest day of operations, five individuals were apprehended from various locations including Nawanshahr city, Aur, Pojewal, Rahon, and Kathgarh. Among those arrested, a woman named Palo was caught in Aur with 15 grams of heroin and six intoxicant injections. Additionally, suspects Khushkaran Singh and Satnam Kumar were arrested in Nawanshahr city and Pojewal, respectively, with Khushkaran in possession of 50 intoxicant capsules and Satnam with 30 capsules. Two more suspects were arrested in Kathgarh and Rahon with various intoxicant capsules and tablets found in their possession.

Previous Day’s Arrests

The previous day saw the arrest of six drug peddlers, including two women, and the recovery of heroin and intoxicant tablets. In Sadar Banga, two women, identified as Nimmo and Babbli, were arrested with a combined 15 grams of heroin. Nimmo was found with 10 grams, while Babbli had 5 grams in her possession.

Addressing a Widespread Issue

A recent video circulating on social media highlighted the plight of a woman drug addict from Gudpad village in the Aur block, known as a drug hotspot. According to family members, the woman’s mother was also a drug addict. The woman has since been admitted to a de-addiction centre in Kapurthala.
