Punjab News: The Punjab government has appointed Raj Lali Gill, the former head of Aam Aadmi Party’s women’s wing in the state, as the new chairperson of the State Women Commission, replacing Manisha Gulati. This decision comes after Manisha Gulati’s challenge against her removal by the state government was not granted relief by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Gulati, appointed by the previous Congress government led by Capt Amarinder Singh in March 2018 for a three-year term, saw her tenure extended.

As per the notification issued by the Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development, Raj Lali Gill’s appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions outlined in Section 4 of the Punjab State Commission for Women Act, 2001.

Expressing her gratitude, Raj Gill took to Twitter to share that she sought blessings from the Honourable Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann before assuming her responsibility as the Chairperson of Women Commission Punjab. She reassured her leader of her commitment to fulfilling her responsibilities with utmost sincerity, expressing gratitude for the trust instilled in her by her leaders.
