Punjab News: The government is actively working to raise the share of renewable energy to 30% by 2030, as outlined in the Punjab Vision Document-2030 strategy. Currently, the state’s renewable energy share stands at 15%.
Punjab’s New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister, Aman Arora, highlighted that this vision not only focuses on energy generation but also emphasizes the importance of demand-side interventions across various sectors.
He made these remarks during the inauguration of the ‘Investment Bazaar for Energy Efficiency’ conference and exhibition organized by the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA).
Opportunities in industries and MSMEs
The event aimed to explore investment opportunities in industries and MSMEs related to energy efficiency projects and brought together representatives from industries, financial institutions, banks, designated consumers, MSMEs, equipment manufacturers (EMs), and energy auditors. Minister Arora stressed the significance of energy efficiency and the implementation of innovative energy-efficient technologies in the state’s industries and MSMEs.
Regarding the investment potential in industries and MSMEs for enhancing state-level infrastructure, the Minister emphasized that the energy sector is transitioning to a demand-driven approach.
He also highlighted the importance of bridging the communication and knowledge gap between project implementers and funding agencies to facilitate the implementation of energy-efficient activities in industries and MSMEs.
