The biting cold in Punjab continues to intensify, prompting the Weather Department to issue an Orange Alert on Monday and Tuesday due to thick fog blanketing the state.
The morning of Monday witnessed dense fog affecting normal life in various districts. According to the meteorological department, a reduction in fog is anticipated from December 27. However, a severe cold spell is expected with a drop in minimum temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana Records Coldest Temperature Among Nine Chilled Districts
Nine districts in Punjab have recorded temperatures lower than Shimla, with Ludhiana being the coldest. The temperature in Ludhiana has plunged to 4 degrees Celsius. Other districts, including Amritsar, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, and Ropar, have recorded temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius.
These developments suggest that Punjab is currently facing an intense cold wave, urging residents to take necessary precautions against the harsh weather conditions.
