Punjab News: Mann meets Sanjay Singh’s family

CM Bhagwant Mann

Punjab News: Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab and the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), met Sanjay Singh’s family on Sunday at their residence. In response to the Adani issues, Mann made a subtly critical statement about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the group had just one slogan: “One Nation, One Friend.”

“We’re with Sanjay Singh, he dares to speak in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Enforcement Directorate (ED) doesn’t go to places where it should go. BJP doesn’t say but they have only one slogan, ‘one nation, one friend’, ED should go to the residence of that one friend,” while talking to the media the Punjab CM said .

“The agency has conducted almost 3,000 raids but not even 1 percent results have come. The BJP does this to scare the Opposition, but we’re not going to be scared,” Mann added.

Arrest by ED:

After questioning Sanjay Singh all day at his Delhi home, the ED finally arrested him on Wednesday night. Sanjay Singh was later remanded in custody till October 10, 2023 by the court on Thursday in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Case.

Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi and member of Sanjay Singh’s party, is allegedly also involved in the same liquor policy scandal.

He is now in jail in connection to the same. The CBI detained the former deputy chief minister of Delhi and minister of excise for the first time on February 26 in connection with the fraud.

Chargesheet:

According to allegations, Singh and his associates were involved in the Delhi government’s decision to provide licences to alcohol retailers and merchants in 2020, which resulted in losses for the state exchequer and broke anti-corruption rules. Five charge sheets, including one against Sisodia, have already been submitted by ED in the matter.
