Punjab News: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Punjab Police has led to the detention of Balwinder Singh, also known as Billa, from the Gurdaspur city area. Singh is a notorious figure involved in multiple cases of drug smuggling and is suspected of having connections with trans-border networks involving Pakistani smugglers.
Detention Under PITNDPS Act
A detention order under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act is being served on Balwinder Singh. Following the detention order, Singh will be lodged in Dibrugarh jail during the period of his detention.
Multiple Cases and Trans-Border Connections
Balwinder Singh has more than ten cases registered against him under the NDPS Act. Despite these cases, he was out on bail and allegedly continued his involvement in drug smuggling activities. Singh is suspected of operating within a larger network of trans-border drug smuggling, coordinating with smugglers across the Pakistan border.

The Punjab Police, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has been actively working to eradicate the drug menace from the state. The recent operation reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to making Punjab a safer and more secure place for its residents.
