Punjab News: The lead-up to Punjab’s gram panchayat elections has seen an overwhelming response from candidates, with a remarkable 52,825 nominations filed for the position of sarpanch and 1,66,338 for panch posts. The final day of nominations, which closed on Friday, highlighted the strong democratic engagement ahead of the October 15 polls.
Over 2 Lakh Nominations Filed for Punjab Gram Panchayat Elections
Punjab State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri announced that elections will take place across 13,229 gram panchayats. Voters will elect 83,437 panch and 13,237 sarpanch, with polling set from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
