Punjab News: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and the Indian Farm Forestry Development Cooperative Limited (IFFDC Ltd), Punjab, have joined forces to facilitate the commercial seed production of the CH-27 chilli hybrid.

The memorandum of agreement was signed by PAU’s Director of Research, Ajmer Singh Dhatt, and IFFDC Punjab’s Chief Project Manager, K S Sandhu. Senior vegetable breeder Salesh Jindal from PAU’s Department of Vegetable Science played a pivotal role in the successful commercialization of CH-27.
Qualities of CH-27
Jindal highlighted the distinctive qualities of CH-27, emphasizing its high yield, resistance to leaf curl virus, fruit rot, and root-knot nematodes, as well as its sprawling growth pattern and consistent fruit production over an extended period. CH-27’s adaptability across the country has made it a popular choice among growers.
