Punjab News : Power Minister Announces Synchronization of New Solar Power Projects

Punjab News: Punjab power minister Harbhajan Singh ETO has announced the successful synchronization of a 50MW capacity solar power project in Karmgarh village, Malout. This project has begun supplying power to the 220 kV grid substation at Katorewala.

Additional Solar Projects Underway

In addition to this, four solar power projects, each with a capacity of 4 MW and allocated to the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) at a rate of 2.748 per kWh, are currently being developed. One of these projects, located in Tarkhanwala village, Bathinda, has already been synchronized with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited’s (PSPCL) 66 kV grid substation in Sekhon.

Boost to State’s Solar Capacity

Minister Singh stated that with the synchronization of these new projects, the cumulative installed capacity of solar power projects in the state has now reached 2,081 MW. This significant increase underscores Punjab’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy resources.

Future Solar Power Developments

Moreover, solar power projects totaling 2,850 MW are currently under development. These projects are expected to produce 300,000 units of green energy daily, significantly contributing to the state’s renewable energy portfolio and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. This expansion is in line with Punjab’s strategic plan to enhance sustainability and energy independence.
