Punjab News- In a bid to manage paddy straw scientifically and reduce farm fires to zero, the Punjab government will provide over 22,000 Crop Residue Management (CRM) machines on subsidy, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian announced on Thursday.

During a meeting to review the status of various schemes and projects undertaken by the department, Minister Khudian directed officials to ensure the draw of lots for the subsidized CRM machines is conducted this month. He emphasized that the subsidy must be released to the beneficiary farmers by the end of August, ahead of the paddy harvesting season.
Director of Agriculture, Jaswant Singh, informed the Cabinet Minister that kharif maize had been sown in 1 lakh acres so far. He assured that the target of bringing 2 lakh acres under kharif maize would be achieved.
Minister Khudian also urged department officials to continue their efforts against the sale of spurious and substandard agriculture inputs. He stressed that the government is fully committed to ensuring the provision of quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to farmers. “Nobody will be spared if found indulging in malpractice,” he warned, underscoring the government’s dedication to maintaining high standards in agricultural inputs.
