Punjab News: Punjab Governor and DGP Address Village Defense Committees on Border Security

Punjab News: On the third day of his tour, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, along with the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, held a significant meeting with members of village defense committees and residents in Bare Ke, a village near the India-Pakistan border. The meeting aimed to address the pressing issues of drug and weapon smuggling across the border and to reinforce community involvement in enhancing security measures.

Installation of Anti-Drone Technology

In a major announcement, the Governor revealed that anti-drone technology would be installed along the entire India-Pakistan border within a year. This initiative is expected to be a game-changer in the fight against the smuggling of drugs and weapons, providing a crucial layer of security against cross-border threats.

Rewards for Capturing Drones

To encourage public participation in this effort, the Governor announced a reward of one lakh rupees for anyone who assists the police in capturing a drone originating from across the border. This incentive aims to mobilize the community and leverage local vigilance to enhance border security.

In a bid to further bolster the fight against drugs, the Governor stated that rewards would be given to committees and panchayats that demonstrate outstanding work in drug elimination.
