Punjab News: Punjab Launches ‘Voter Queue Information System’ for June 1 Elections

Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C launched the innovative ‘Voter Queue Information System’ on Saturday, aimed at assisting voters in checking the length of queues at their polling booths on the election day, June 1, from the comfort of their homes.

Punjab Launches ‘Voter Queue Information System’ for June 1 Elections

Developed in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Punjab, and Meta, this system allows voters to access real-time information about queue lengths. CEO Sibin C explained that voters can simply type ‘Vote’ and send it to the WhatsApp number 7447447217. They will then receive a link presenting two options – ‘Location’ and ‘Booth’.

For the ‘Location’ option, voters need to share their location, which will display a list of nearby polling booths on their mobile screen. By entering the booth number, they will receive real-time information on the number of people standing in the queue at that specific booth.

For the ‘Booth’ option, voters first select the state of Punjab, followed by their district. This action brings up all the assembly constituencies in that district. After selecting their assembly constituency and entering the booth number, voters can see the number of people currently in queue to vote at their booth.

Sibin C emphasized that this system is designed to enhance voter convenience and ensure a smoother voting process by allowing citizens to plan their visit to the polling booth more efficiently.
