Punjab News: Punjab’s Minister of NRI Affairs, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, met with Railway Minister of State, Ravneet Singh Bittu, in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss crucial railway-related issues affecting the Amritsar district. Dhaliwal presented a memorandum urging the minister to enhance rail connectivity between the border belt and the rest of the country.
A key request made by Dhaliwal was the revamp of the Ramdas railway station, located near the international border. He also proposed that the station be renamed in honor of Baba Budha Ji, a revered Sikh figure.In response to these demands, Minister Bittu assured Dhaliwal of a timely resolution to the concerns raised, emphasizing the importance of improving rail infrastructure in the region for better connectivity and development.
Punjab Minister Pushes for Improved Rail Connectivity
During the meeting, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal emphasized the strategic importance of improving rail connectivity in the border belt of Amritsar. He highlighted the need for better rail links to facilitate smoother travel for residents and boost local economic development. According to Dhaliwal, a robust rail network would not only ease transportation challenges but also contribute to enhancing trade and tourism in the region.
Revamping Ramdas Railway Station
A significant point in the discussion was the proposed revamp of the Ramdas railway station, situated close to the India-Pakistan border. Dhaliwal emphasized the station’s location, making it a key point for connecting border areas with the rest of the country. He further suggested renaming the station after Baba Budha Ji, an iconic figure in Sikh history, as a mark of respect and cultural significance.
