Punjab News: In preparation for Independence Day, the Punjab Police carried out a comprehensive cordon and search operation (CASO) on Friday across all railway stations in the state. The operation, led by Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, was conducted from 10 AM to 3 PM in all 28 police districts.
Statewide Security Sweep
The operation involved around 250 police parties, comprising over 2,000 personnel, who were deployed across the state. With the assistance of sniffer dogs, police teams meticulously frisked individuals arriving and departing from railway stations, aiming to ensure the security of key transit points.
Thorough Vehicle Checks
As part of the operation, police teams inspected 1,851 vehicles parked at various railway station parking lots. Among these, 628 vehicles were flagged as they had been parked for more than three days, warranting further scrutiny.
High-Level Supervision
To ensure the operation’s effectiveness, all commissioners of police and senior superintendents of police (SSPs) were instructed to deploy at least two police teams per railway station. These teams operated under the direct supervision of an SP-rank officer to maintain high security standards during the operation.
This large-scale security measure underscores the Punjab Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order ahead of the national celebration. The CASO is part of a broader effort to ensure public safety during the Independence Day festivities.
