Punjab News: In a significant move to combat stubble burning and promote sustainable agriculture, the Punjab government has ramped up efforts to provide farmers with advanced equipment for stubble management. As part of this initiative, 5,534 Crop Residue Management (CRM) machines have been procured, and 6,377 sanction letters have been issued for the provision of over 11,000 machines to farmers across the state.
Punjab Takes Major Steps Toward Effective Stubble Management
Punjab’s Agriculture Minister, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, shared these updates, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing the environmental challenges posed by stubble burning. Among the equipment being provided, the Super Seeder leads the pack with 4,945 approvals. Other machines include the Zero Till Drill, with 1,164 approvals, and 607 Bailing Machines, all aimed at providing farmers with effective tools for crop residue management.
Supporting Sustainable Farming
The distribution of these machines is part of a larger effort to encourage farmers to adopt eco-friendly farming practices that reduce the harmful effects of burning stubble. The use of machinery like Super Seeders allows farmers to plant the next crop without removing the previous crop’s residue, while Bailing Machines help in collecting and reusing the stubble for various purposes.
The government’s focus on such initiatives reflects its determination to mitigate the environmental impact of traditional farming practices and ensure that the state contributes to cleaner air and a healthier ecosystem.
