“We do not discriminate based on gender,” asserted Mann, highlighting his government’s progressive stance. He proudly mentioned that his government includes two female ministers, with Punjab being the first state to have 10 female Deputy Commissioners (DC) and 7 female Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) serving simultaneously.
Mann criticized previous governments for selling state-owned thermal plants to friends, whereas his government has purchased a private thermal plant. He emphasized his commitment to providing cheap electricity to farmers during the day and promised to extend the benefit to industries as well.
Responding to criticism about lack of leadership, Mann pointed fingers at other political parties, stating that neither the Shiromani Akali Dal nor the Bharatiya Janata Party nor the Congress could find suitable candidates to contest against him.
Mann accused former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh of misusing funds
Regarding financial mismanagement, Mann accused former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh of misusing funds and highlighted the injustice of the central government withholding ₹5500 crore owed to Punjab despite legal changes made by his government.
Addressing the issue of gender equality, Mann reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusivity, highlighting the significant presence of women in key positions within the government.
However, Mann expressed disappointment that no female candidate was fielded by his party for the Lok Sabha elections, despite having allocated tickets for Punjab. He assured that any mistakes made by his party would be rectified by June 4th.
Confident of victory in Sangrur, Mann emphasized that the government’s achievements have resonated with the people, and he proposed the establishment of a dry port in Amritsar to facilitate air cargo transportation of Punjab’s products.
Overall, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann exuded confidence in Punjab’s leadership role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, asserting his government’s commitment to progressive policies and inclusive governance.
