Punjab News: Punjab’s agriculture sector is taking a major step towards sustainability as the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, announces the introduction of over 14,000 crop residue management (CRM) machines. This initiative includes 9,000 Super Seeders, which have contributed to a remarkable 68% reduction in stubble burning incidents across the state.
Agriculture Minister Announces Significant Reduction in Stubble Burning
The concerted efforts of the Punjab government have resulted in breaking records in the reduction of stubble burning cases. This year, only 4,132 cases have been reported compared to 12,813 cases last year, marking a significant improvement in environmental conservation efforts.
Punjab’s Farmers Drive Eco-Friendly Change with New Machines
The Agriculture Department has approved 21,958 CRM machines, while farmers have purchased 14,587 units. Notably, the Super Seeder has emerged as the top choice among farmers, with 9,010 units sold in the current year. Additionally, 620 custom hiring centers have been established across the state to assist small and marginal farmers in accessing these machines.
Through these initiatives, Punjab is paving the way for cleaner air and sustainable farming practices, setting an exemplary collaboration between farmers and the government in environmental conservation.
