In a continued crackdown under the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the state’s anti-drug campaign completed its 107th day with major results on the ground.
As per the latest data shared by AAP Punjab:
479 raids were conducted across different areas
102 drug smugglers were arrested
76 FIRs were registered
Seizures included:
688 grams of heroin
105 kilograms of poppy husk (choora post)
2,164 intoxicating tablets/capsules
₹26,910 in cash linked to illegal drug trade
The cumulative effort so far has led to 17,749 drug smugglers being arrested since the anti-drug campaign began.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reiterated the government's commitment:
"This is not just a campaign, it is a war against the drug menace. We will not rest until Punjab is completely free of this poison," he said, urging the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities.
The Chief Minister also directed law enforcement agencies to ensure that the campaign remains swift and non-political. He emphasized that no one, regardless of their position or connections, will be spared if found involved in drug trafficking.
Citizens are being encouraged to cooperate by using the government's anonymous helplines and mobile apps to report drug-related crimes in their neighborhoods. The administration has also announced rehabilitation support for addicts willing to recover.
Officials stated that special focus is being placed on border districts and youth-driven areas, as most smuggling routes and consumption hubs are concentrated there. Punjab Police, along with Special Task Forces (STF), continue to intensify surveillance and intelligence-based operations.
With increasing arrests and record-level seizures, the Mann government claims the campaign is showing tangible results. However, opposition parties have raised concerns over the sustainability of the drive and have asked for long-term strategies beyond arrests.
The state government has maintained that it will continue publishing daily updates, ensuring full transparency and public accountability as part of its promise to make Punjab safe, secure, and drug-free.
