Punjab News: SSOC Claims Major Breakthrough in Counterterrorism Operation

In a significant development, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) has announced the dismantling of a terrorist recruitment, funding, and aiding module with the arrest of Paramjit Singh, alias Punjab Singh, alias Dhadi, a close associate of Pak-based terrorist Lakhbir Rode. The arrest took place at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport.

Details Unveiled by DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav revealed crucial details about the arrested individual. Paramjit Singh, a British citizen and a founder member of the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), was allegedly involved in terror activities in Punjab during the early 90s. Subsequently, he faced arrest in 2003 and was convicted in cases related to terrorist activities.

After serving his sentence, Paramjit returned to the UK but continued his involvement with ISYF. In his capacity as a motivator, recruiter, and fundraiser, he operated in the UK and other European countries, contributing to the organization’s activities.

Death of Lakhbir Rode and Ongoing Investigation

The announcement comes in the wake of the reported death of Lakhbir Rode due to a heart attack in Pakistan on Monday. Gaurav Yadav informed that in 2021, Paramjit Singh’s name surfaced for his alleged role in reorganizing ISYF cadre in Punjab. He was accused of arranging and providing funds and militant hardware to target specific individuals, aiming to disrupt peace and harmony in the state.

Following Paramjit Singh’s suspected involvement in terror funding and other subversive activities in Punjab, a Lookout Circular (LOC) was issued to ensure his apprehension. DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized that the investigation is ongoing to expose and dismantle the entire terrorist network.
