Punjab News: Vigilance Bureau Achieves Significant Milestones in Anti-Corruption Drive

In a robust effort to combat corruption in Punjab, the Vigilance Bureau has undertaken a vigorous campaign resulting in the arrest of 288 government officials and employees, including 66 police personnel. The Bureau has been actively pursuing cases related to corruption and disproportionate assets, with a total of 251 traps laid during 2023 until December 26. Notably, seven political leaders and 70 government officials and employees are facing legal action.

Judicial Action and Case Outcomes

The Vigilance Bureau has filed 103 criminal cases and 15 cases related to disproportionate assets. Within the specified timeframe, special courts have delivered judgments in 33 cases, finding 43 individuals guilty and imposing penalties. A total of 181 cases have been presented before various courts, and investigations are ongoing in 82 cases. The crackdown is part of a broader anti-corruption initiative initiated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Statistics and Anti-Corruption Drive

Since the launch of the anti-corruption initiative in March last year, the Vigilance Bureau has received a staggering 11,074 complaints related to corruption. Of these, 5,740 complaints have been forwarded to relevant departments for further action, signaling the government’s commitment to fostering transparency and accountability.
