Punjab News: In a major success against organised crime, the Punjab Police under CM Bhagwant Mann guidance dismantled a trans-border narco-smuggling network on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The operation, spearheaded by the Amritsar Rural Police, resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 6.5 kilograms of heroin. The information was shared by the DGP Punjab Police on X (formerly Twitter).
Drones Used to Smuggle Drugs from Pakistan
The smuggling network relied on drones to transport drugs across the India-Pakistan border. These drones carried heroin into Punjab under the coordination of individuals with direct links to Pakistan-based smugglers. The Punjab Police acted swiftly on leads, executing three coordinated operations to disrupt this illegal activity. The accused were closely connected to international smuggling chains, revealing the extent of the network.
Drones have become a common tool for smuggling operations, especially along the Punjab-Pakistan border. They allow traffickers to transport drugs quickly while reducing the risk of detection. However, the Punjab Police’s rapid response and vigilant monitoring played a crucial role in intercepting this operation.
Punjab Police’s Commitment to Fighting Drug Trafficking
The seizure of 6.5 kilograms of heroin is a significant blow to the drug trade in Punjab. This success is part of the Punjab Police’s broader efforts to dismantle organised crime networks. The DGP emphasized the importance of uncovering all forward and backward linkages to ensure such networks are completely dismantled.
The Punjab Police have been relentless in their fight against drug trafficking. Through enhanced surveillance, coordination, and timely action, they aim to make the state safer for its citizens. This operation reflects their dedication to ensuring that organized crime has no place in Punjab.
