Punjab Weather Update— As North India grapples with an intense heatwave, affecting Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new media bulletin predicting relief in the form of rainfall for several districts in Punjab.

The IMD has placed a yellow alert for heatwave and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning, across all districts of Punjab, with the exception of Ludhiana and Barnala where an orange alert has been issued due to more severe weather conditions.

The districts expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning include Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Firozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, and Mansa. These areas are likely to see a break from the scorching heat with predicted rain showers.

IMD Predicts Rainfall and Thunderstorms in Punjab

The IMD’s forecast specifies that rainfall is anticipated on June 14. Following this, from June 15 to 17, both yellow and orange alerts have been declared, indicating a combination of continuing heatwave conditions and potential thunderstorms.
