During the National Lok Adalat organized by the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, a total of 2,71,233 cases were taken up for amicable settlement by 415 Benches in Punjab. This effort aimed to foster agreeable resolutions and streamline the judicial process.
142 Cases involving accident claims were disposed of during the National Lok Adalat organized
Additionally, another 142 cases involving accident claims were disposed of during the National Lok Adalat organized by the High Court Legal Services Committee of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. These cases resulted in awards totaling Rs 6,58,62,000, which were granted over and above the claims approved by the motor accident claims tribunals.
The lok adalats in Punjab were conducted under the guidance of Justice Lisa Gill, chairperson of the High Court Legal Services Committee, and involved the participation of four Benches, including High Court Judges as presidents and senior advocates as members. A total of 410 cases were listed for resolution. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, oversaw the lok adalats across Punjab.
