Congress takes commanding lead in Karnataka Assembly Elections, BJP trails behind
With a victory margin of more than 130 seats, Congress has taken a commanding lead over the governing Bharatiya Janata Party as the results of the Karnataka Assembly elections become more certain. Over 20 seats are in the hands of the Janata Dal (Secular). Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, declared that the BJP had “not been able to make the mark” in the state’s 224 assembly seats, comfortably surpassing the necessary 113 votes. According to the most recent trends on the Election Commission website, the BJP is leading in 64. The JD-S was in the lead in 20 seats and hoped to play the deciding vote.
