Lok Sabha Election 2024: At midnight, vandals shattered the glass windows of numerous cars outside the Congress headquarters in Gauriganj. A few congress workers who attended the protests were also badly beaten. In addition, four employees of Congress were hurt in the incident.
Details of the Incident
The incident happened on Sunday night at 12:45 a.m. while Kishori Lal Sharma, a candidate for Congress, was meeting with employees in the office. Anil Singh, a spokesman for the Congress, charged that the BJP was attacking and stated that the police were present for the entire incident. Once the members of Congress left the office, the assailants fled.
KL Sharma Reacts to the Incident
KL Sharma, a congressional candidate from Amethi, comments on the vandalism of cars parked outside the Congress office in Amethi. He said, “This has never been the culture of Amethi. Several democratic elections have taken place here. But we are seeing this for the first time. Who are such people who have come to contest elections and are giving rise to such culture?…We are not going to be scared of this. I have been in Assam too where the situation was worse. But I think it will be their loss. This is not Amethi’s culture, people are not used to this.”
Former Congress MLC Deepak Singh’s Claims
According to former Congress MLC Deepak Singh, some BJP employees caused chaos while intoxicated. Employees of Congress are not scared of this. The BJP, however, has refuted the accusations. According to ASP Harendra Kumar, there has been an incident, and the claims are being looked into.
