Rajasthan News: As the Rajasthan assembly elections get closer, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are working to solidify their positions. Both parties will share their perspectives on key subjects during the following six months. The BJP would criticise the Gehlot administration’s work on the “Rajasthan Invest 2022” project while also asserting that it creates job possibilities. The average people’s issues, which may have fallen victim to political agendas, are mostly ignored in the midst of all these political conflicts.
Rajasthan’s Water Woes and Urgent Need for Solutions
Water scarcity is a problem in Rajasthan that cannot be ignored. With 11% of the nation’s total landmass, Rajasthan is the largest state in terms of area. Only 2% of the country’s water supply is sent to the state, nevertheless. The Thar Desert and the absence of significant rivers that may relieve its population’s thirst are the main causes of Rajasthan’s water shortages. The state capital of Jaipur, where there is a daily deficit of 90 million litres of water, is experiencing water challenges, according to a paper titled “Water Scarcity in Jaipur” issued by Northwestern University in 2014. One can only imagine the situation in other cities if this is the state of the capital. There is a water shortage in several cities, including Pali, Jodhpur, and Sirohi. The city of Barmar’s citizens are quite concerned about the delayed water supply during the intense heat. Water availability is impacted by the availability of power, which exacerbates the water issue in many places. A local lawmaker was allegedly involved in water mafia activities, according to a demonstration organised by BJP activists on Monday in Barmar. Similar demonstrations against the escalating water issue and rising electricity prices occurred recently in Jhajpur, where BJP activists participated. On behalf of the state governor, they sent a note outlining the difficulties that the populace was experiencing owing to a severe heatwave and a lack of water and electricity to the sub-divisional officer. The issue of which party will properly address the water crisis now arises.

Rajasthan’s Youth Demand Accountability
The young of Rajasthan are extremely upset and angry because Rajasthan has turned into a centre for paper leaks. In Rajasthan, there have been a total of 26 incidences of document leaks discovered since 2011, 14 of which happened under the Gehlot administration. In other words, there have been three examinations that have leaked year on average. The last REET test has drawn a lot of attention because Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was accused of not acting on reports that the exam had been leaked within their own party by Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. The Gehlot administration responded by claiming that 90% of those connected to the REET examination leak cases had been detained and charged by the police and Special Operations Group (SOG). Exam leaks are a serious blemish on the Gehlot administration. The dearth of job chances is bad enough for aspirants, but their misery is made worse when they study for a test only to find out it has been leaked. On February 25, 2023, information on the REET test was leaked. A similar occurrence happened in 2021. Utilising this to attack the Gehlot administration, opposition parties. Young people in the state are generally unhappy with Gehlot’s leadership. Exams are now a political battleground because the future government will also need the backing of the young people.

Understanding the Religious and Caste Composition
In Rajasthan, there are 89% Hindus, 9% Muslims, and 2% people who practise other religions. Jats make up 12% of the population, Gurjars and Rajputs each make up 9%, the Scheduled Caste population is 18%, the Scheduled Tribe population is 13%. 7% each belong to the Brahmin and Meena communities. Based on these demographics, every political party seeking to gain power must concentrate on winning the support of the Other Backward Classes (OBC). The distribution of tickets is frequently dependent on caste, despite political parties’ claims that they prioritise development and the welfare of the population. Religious movements and conversions have accelerated recently in Rajasthan, which has had a significant impact on the politics of the state.
