Rajasthan News: The killing of their leader, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, on Tuesday led the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena and other community groups to sit in protest and call for a state-wide bandh in Rajasthan on Wednesday. The neighbourhood called for a court investigation into the situation. In a video posted by the news agency ANI, community members were seen in Jaipur sitting in protest.
Bhawani Singh Kalvi’s Response
Speaking to media amid protest Bhawani Singh Kalvi, son of Karni Sena founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi said, “Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi had demanded security. The administration also had some letters and proof that something like this could happen to him. There is a big question mark on why security was not provided to him.”
Diya Kumari Condemns Shocking Murder
New BJP MLA Diya Kumari also spoke saying that, “The murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur is shocking. I don’t have words to condemn it. He had demanded security for himself, but the Congress government failed to provide it. I offer my condolence to his family.”
Fatal Attack in Jaipur
Three men shot Gogamedi dead in the living room of his Jaipur home. According to police, one of the attackers was also shot and killed by his companions, as reported by PTI. According to the police, they have identified two of the suspects who fired shots at Gogamedi on Wednesday. Makrana Nagaur native Rohit Rathore was named as the first accused.
Second Defendant Identified
The second defendant was named as Mahendragath, Haryana, native Nitin Fouji. The attackers were captured on camera drawing their weapons and firing randomly at Gogamedi, who was seated on the couch across from them before collapsing. One of the attackers fired a close-range shot at a motionless Gogamedi who was lying on the ground before running away.
Deceptive Visit Turns Deadly
The attackers, who had gone to Gogamedi’s home in the Shyam Nagar area under the guise of meeting him, wounded one of his security guards with a bullet, according to the police. According to Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra, searches have been conducted to find the two attackers who were able to escape, and the Rohit Godara gang has taken credit for the murder.
