Bikaner Earthquake: On June 6, a small earthquake with a Richter scale of 4.3 shook Bikaner, Rajasthan. The earthquake struck in the wee hours of June 6 at 11:36 pm, and nearby areas could feel its tremors. There have not yet been any earthquake-related fatalities reported.
National Center for Seismology Reports 4.3 Quake
The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres, and its epicentre was located 685 kilometres west of Bikaner. National Center for Seismology Twitted, “Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 06-06-2023, 23:36:57 IST, Lat: 28.36 & Long: 66.33, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 685km W of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India.”
Two Previous Earthquakes Rocked Bikaner in the Last Year
At least two additional earthquakes have struck Bikaner in the previous calendar year. On March 26 at 2.16 am, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck the region. The NCS estimates that this earthquake’s epicentre was located 516 kilometres west of Bikaner and that it occurred at a depth of 8 kilometres. A 4.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Bikaner at 2:01 am on August 22, 2022, was also reported by the NCS. The epicentre of that earthquake, which struck at a depth of 10 km, was estimated to be located approximately 236 north-west of Bikaner.
