Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday that truth and non-violence are the basic spirit of the Constitution and the state government is also following these ideals.
2550th Nirvana Utsav of Lord Mahavir
The Chief Minister was addressing the function organized on the 2550th Nirvana Utsav of Lord Mahavir here on Saturday. Gehlot said that the message of Lord Mahavir is that the society should be free from violence and hatred.
He said that the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had also received the teachings of truth and non-violence from Jain sages. Gehlot said that peace and harmony are the specialty of Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has set up the country’s first peace and non-violence department to spread the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Various programs are being conducted by the department for wide publicity of Gandhian ideas. In this series, ‘Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Governance and Social Sciences’ has been established so that maximum youth can develop the spirit of social service.
Gehlot paid tributes to Acharya Shri Sanmati Sagar Ji Maharaj on his 13th death anniversary. According to the official statement, Gehlot discussed various programs and schemes of public interest being run in the state with Mr. Sunil Sagar Ji Maharaj. Gehlot flagged off the non-violence chariot after worshiping and showing it green flags.
He said that along with the education of truth, non-violence, the message of de-addiction will also reach the common people through the chariot. Earlier, the Chief Minister also released books named ‘Sunil Sanjeevani’, ‘Anootha Tapasvi’ and ‘Doosra Mahavir’. Agriculture Minister Lalchand Kataria said that the message of peace and non-violence will go in the entire state from the non-violence chariot.
