Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is forced to resign as he is contesting for the party’s top post due to the Congress’s ‘one post one person’ rule. Due to the rule of one post and the election of the Congress President, it seemed that the door has been opened for Sachin Pilot, the former Deputy CM of Rajasthan.
The MLAs of the Gehlot faction are not accepted as Pilot CMs. About 100 MLAs, including independents, are from the Ashok Gehlot faction. The legislature party meeting was to be held tomorrow (Sunday). It was believed that Pilot’s name would be announced for the CM, but before that the MLAs revolted and were adamant on resigning.
Is this stand of MLAs or Ashok Gehlot of not allowing Sachin to become CM? that is the question.
Gehlot has even called the pilot useless. According to party sources, Ashok Gehlot has three insistences, which are proving to be a hindrance in Sachin Pilot becoming the CM.
What are the three demands of Ashok Gehlot?
Ashok Gehlot is demanding from Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi that after the election of Congress President, the new CM of Rajasthan should be selected.
CM Gehlot’s second demand is that the new CM should be the person from among the 102 MLAs who played a key role in saving the government during the power crisis in 2020, and not someone who was involved in an attempt to topple it.
Ashok Gehlot’s third demand is that the CM of Rajasthan should be made of his choice.
What is the Gandhi family’s stand on Sachin Pilot?
During the power struggle of 2020 in the Rajasthan Congress, it seemed that Sachin Pilot would also follow the path of Jyotiraditya Scindia and break the MLA and join the BJP, but Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi somehow convinced him. Priyanka Gandhi is in favor of making Pilot the CM. At the same time, party high command Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi also want Pilot to become CM but Ashok Gehlot wants Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi to be made CM.
Declaration of MLAs not to attend any meeting till this day
Due to the mutual confrontation of two big leaders, a power crisis has arisen in Rajasthan and political drama is going on fiercely. The results of the Congress President’s election will come on October 19. The MLAs of the Gehlot faction say that they will not attend any meeting till October 19.
