BJP people-connect drive: As part of the party’s plan to organise 51 rallies throughout the nation to honour the Modi government’s nine years in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are scheduled to appear in public meetings in the state this month, according to state BJP president Manmohan Samal.

“Of the 51 big rallies planned in the country, four will be held in Odisha. The PM, the home minister and defence minister Rajnath Singh, among other central leaders, will address the various meetings,” Samal said.
The dates are being worked out, he added.

throughout the month-long “Maha Janasampark,” according to Samal, the party would deliver the message of the “new India” and “welfare of the poor” to people’s doorsteps throughout the nine years that Modi will be in office. The PM spoke at the first such gathering on Wednesday in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district.

“Besides the four mega rallies in Odisha, there will be 1,000 smaller meetings across the state during the one month till June 30 to spread the message of politics of development without corruption during these nine years,” he said.

The 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, according to the state BJP president, have been grouped into six clusters to better contact voters. During the upcoming month, BJP leaders will visit eight days in each cluster.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi, a former Union minister and Balasore MP, has been named the state convenor for Maha Janasampark, according to Samal. Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Giriraj Singh, Arjun Munda, and Nityanand Rai, all Union ministers, will also speak at public events and engage in community outreach initiatives.

To reach one crore families in Odisha, more than five lakh workers will be sent out. Sarat Pattanayak Modi, president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, has seen a sharp decline in support, and the BJP’s campaign will not be able to reverse that trend.

“People have realised the current government can’t deliver on its promises and the environment is favourable towards the Congress,” he said.
