Rajasthan: On Saturday, Government Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat filed a defamation lawsuit against Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in a Delhi court over alleged comments he made on the Sanjeevani scandal.
Jal Shakti filed a defamation lawsuit
The union minister for Jal Shakti filed a defamation lawsuit, which Delhi Rouse Avenue Court has taken note of and scheduled for hearing on Monday. Shekhawat has said that the accusations made by the Rajasthan CM have irreparably damaged his reputation. “There is irreparable damage caused to his (Shekhawat) reputation,” the complaint claimed.
Shekhawat responded to Gehlot’s allegations
Both leaders have levelled accusations against one another and claimed the other is complicit in numerous frauds. Gehlot had already charged Shekhawat and his family with taking part in the Sanjeevani Credit Cooperative Society fraud, which resulted in the claimed loss of 900 crore from thousands of investors. Shekhawat responded to Gehlot’s allegations by asserting that the Special Operations Group (SOG) had submitted three charge sheets in the Sanjeevani case but had omitted any reference of Shekhawat or any members of his family as parties to the case. Moreover, Gehlot claims Shekhawat participated in a plot to overthrow his administration in 2019.

Shekhawat has asked for legal action
Shekhawat, on the other hand, asserted that Gehlot is engaging in character assassination out of resentment at his defeat of Gehlot’s son in the most recent Lok Sabha elections. Shekhawat has asked for legal action against Gehlot under the criminal defamation laws, as well as adequate monetary recompense for the harm to his reputation.
