Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023: Leaders, Including Ex-Congress Loyalists, Join BJP

Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023: Several notable leaders, including Chandra Singh Baid, son of former Rajasthan Finance Minister Chandanmal Baid, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in preparation for the upcoming November 25 Assembly elections. Among the new BJP members are former MLA Nandlal Poonia, former Jaipur Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, and others.

Notably, Jyoti Khandelwal was considered a loyalist of Congress leader Sachin Pilot before switching to the BJP.

Who all joined BJP?

Additionally, other political figures such as Hari Singh Charan, who contested the Assembly election as an independent candidate from Mandawa, Congress leader Sanwarmal Meharia, and former IPS officers Kesar Singh Shekhawat and Bhim Singh, have also joined the BJP.

In response to this influx of leaders, BJP state president CP Joshi expressed that their decision to join reflects the growing confidence of the public in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Joshi emphasized that people trust Modi’s guarantees over those of the Congress, citing past unfulfilled promises.

Arun Singh, the party’s state in-charge, asserted that the Gehlot government’s countdown has begun, and the BJP is poised to secure a historic victory in the forthcoming Assembly polls.

Jyoti Khandelwal joins BJP:

Former Jaipur mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, upon joining the BJP, conveyed her dissatisfaction with the Congress, where she felt that honest and dedicated party workers were marginalized, and the leadership was unresponsive to their concerns. Khandelwal praised the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed her commitment to strengthening the BJP.

The article also noted that Rajasthan is heading to the polls on November 25, with the vote count scheduled for December 3. With 200 total seats, the state is poised for a direct contest between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, with anti-incumbency being a significant factor.

Rajasthan Assembly Election:

Rajasthan has alternated between Congress and BJP rule since 1993, when the BJP came to power. In the 2018 Assembly polls, Congress secured 100 seats, followed by the BJP with 73 seats, and the BSP with 6 seats, among other smaller parties and independent candidates.
