Rajasthan: On Sunday, the Rajasthan Police claimed that they had received information about an explosion on railroad tracks in the Udaipur district from locals, and that after the incident, explosives had been found nearby. Now, National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other agencies are looking into the matter.
According to officials, the incident was reported to the neighborhood police officers at the Jawar Mines police station on Sunday morning.
About the incident, Udaipur SP Vikas Sharma told
“We are gathering all evidence. It appears that the explosion took place last night and the railway tracks were damaged. We were informed about it this morning. A train was supposed to pass through the area, where the incident took place, at 11.30 am on Sunday. Some explosive substance has been recovered, which prima facie appears to be like explosives used in mining activities,” according to Udaipur SP Vikas Sharma.
According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the explosion was estimated to be 35 kilometres from Udaipur.
A team from the bridge rehabilitation project is also present.
According to officials, the Asarwa-Udaipur Express train from Ahmedabad was intended to travel through the area where the explosion destroyed the railroad tracks. The train’s first run was recently signalled off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to a railroad spokeswoman, the train was stopped in Dungarpur as a result of the incident.
