Rajasthan: During the current assembly session, the Rajasthan government is anticipated to introduce a bill intended to combat organised crime. The laws would be comparable to those in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. According to the state government, there is no specific law to address the fact that gangs of criminals have formed and the nature of crime has changed.
Minimum fine of 5 lakh
According to a statement released by the government after chief minister Ashok Gehlot presided over a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the bill calls for a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison for supporting gangs and engaging in criminal conspiracy. For acquiring property through organised crime, the proposed legislation also includes a minimum fine of 5 lakh and a minimum sentence of three years in prison. According to the bill’s provisions, a public employee who aids organised crime may face a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine. According to the proposed law, a criminal gang is any organisation of criminals with more than two members who engage in violence or intimidation.

Bill will discourage criminal gangs
The initiative by the Rajasthan government to introduce the bill emphasises the necessity of addressing the escalating issue of organised crime. If the bill is approved, it would establish a legal framework to fight organised crime and guarantee that those who engage in it are subject to harsh punishments. The state’s public safety will be increased, and the government anticipates that the introduction of the bill will discourage criminal gangs.
